ClipShare Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

ClipShare is developed and provided by Sons Labo ("we"). This policy explains how the ClipShare apps for macOS and Android (the "apps") and this website handle information.

2. Data we collect

None. The apps have no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no tracking of any kind. We operate no servers for ClipShare, and no information about you or your devices is ever transmitted to us or to third parties.

3. Clipboard content

When sync is enabled, text you copy is sent directly from one of your paired devices to the other over your local network (or a private network you have set up yourself, such as a VPN). Clipboard content is never sent to us or to any external server. The apps keep the most recently synced text on your devices to show sync status; it is replaced the next time you copy something.

4. Pairing information

To connect your devices, the apps store pairing information locally on each device: a randomly generated pairing token and the address and port of your paired devices. This information is used only so that your devices can authenticate each other on your network, and it never leaves your devices.

5. Local network features

The Mac app advertises itself on your local network using Bonjour (service type "_clipshare._tcp") so that your Android device can find it. This advertisement is visible only to devices on the same LAN. Sync traffic is sent directly between your paired devices over that LAN or a private network such as Tailscale; ClipShare does not send or relay it through an external server.

Sync traffic between the Mac app and the Android app is encrypted with TLS. The Mac app generates its own certificate, and the Android app verifies it during pairing (certificate pinning). Pairing uses a one-time code that expires after five minutes; you can revoke paired devices at any time from the Mac app's settings. The Mac app listens on the port configured in ClipShare. Do not expose that port to the public internet using router port forwarding, NAT rules, public tunnels, or similar network settings.

6. Permissions

• Android — Network access: used to communicate with your Mac on the local network.
• Android — Foreground service and notification: keeps sync running reliably; Android requires a persistent notification for this.
• Android — QR pairing uses the code scanner provided by Google Play services on your device; the app itself does not request camera permission.
• macOS — Local network permission: macOS asks for this on first launch; it is required for device-to-device sync.

7. Third-party services

The apps include no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. On Android, QR scanning is performed on your device by Google Play services. This website is a static page: it sets no cookies and includes no analytics.

8. Children

ClipShare does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.

9. Changes to this policy

If we ever change how ClipShare handles information, we will update this policy and its effective date before the change takes effect.
